I'm a sucker for a beauty box. I cancelled my Glossybox subscription before I went travelling, but I decided this month was the perfect time to re enter my addiction of getting surprise beauty products sent through the post. I looked around for a bit and decided to go for the So Susan Lip Love Bag because the December's one looked really good. I also liked how all of the products were make up rather than other things like hand cream or the dreaded perfume samples that often crop up in beauty boxes! My January subscription arrived this week and I wasn't disappointed!
I'm really impressed with the little pouch that the items come in, when I had my Glossy Box subscription I always ended up with a million boxes lying around gathering dust so it's nice to have something that will be easy to store! And look at how cute it is! By the looks of it every month's bag has a specific theme and January's,very befittingly for the new year, is the "I love myself" bag, which a quote on it that says "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment"
It also has a mermaid on it, what more could you fish for? (I'll show myself out.)
The items I received are as follows;
Jelly Pong Pong, Jello Shot
According to the blurb, this is a "gel stain hybrid formula infused with Heat Shift technology that transforms into a healthy, rosy flush upon contact onto your skin according to your body temperature"
I love the idea of this product, but when I applied it I found it slightly too bright on my skin for an every day look. Generally I prefer blushers to give me a healthy but subtle flush, but I could see me using this on a night out when I'm wearing more make up.
So Susan, Liquid Powder Shadow Palette
I haven't tried this yet because, again, I probably wouldn't wear these darker colours in my every day make up. I did however sample a few of the shades on the back of my hand and they glided on really nicely so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
Jelly Pong Pong, All Over Glow
I'm a massive enthusiast for all highlighters so I was delighted to get this in my bag. It's a lovely peachy, golden shade that gives my skin a pretty glow and since trying it out, I've used it every day in my make up routine.
Trifle Cosmetics, Lip Parfait in "Guilty Pug"
This is a dark nude which isn't a colour I would normally go for, but I really liked how it looked on. Also, look at the packaging! I'm not a massive fan of pugs (I prefer my dogs to look giant and fluffy) but this is irresistible.
